Richardson Chiropractic Care Helps Relieve Back Pain Safely And Effectively

By Jorel Tuyor

Back pain is a common complaint that many people experience in various forms. A wide range of conditions can lead to discomfort in the back which is often chronic and may continue for years. Rather than relying on pain medications or having to resort to surgery, these patients can find relief the natural way under the care of a Richardson chiropractor.

In the chiropractic discipline, the spine is considered to be the part of the body which influences the general health of the rest of it. Chiropractors are trained to keep the spine functioning well using various forms of manual therapy. In doing so, they not only relieve pain in the back but also maintain health in the whole body.

Chiropractic care is concerned with first finding the issue which is responsible for pain. In order to determine what is causing the patient's back pain, the practitioner will perform a physical examination and order further tests if necessary, based on this information he or she will decide how to proceed with therapy.

In cases where the pain is found to stem from misalignment of the spinal vertebrae or a herniated disc, spinal adjustments are normally the first approach taken. The practitioner will manually apply a force to the affected area of the spine to bring about realignment and normal mobility. Pain is alleviated as pressure on surrounding nerves is relieved.

Another technique which may be used, most often when the patient has a ruptured disc, is traction. When the patient lies on the traction table, a force is applied to the spine which gently separates the vertebrae and creates a vacuum, which helps the disc move back into position and also relieves the pain.

In some patients, back pain is caused by a condition of the soft tissues. If this is the case the practitioner may implement other strategies such as massage, cold laser, or ultrasound therapy. By visiting a Richardson chiropractor patients will be sure to get the best care for their particular back pain condition. Once several weeks of therapy have passed, a considerable improvement should be noted.

  2. Some people are afraid of Chiropractics because of the possibility of the manual manipulations to cause further damage to the spine. The benefits are so promising though and I know that these chiropractors are experts so there is less risk for injury. :)
