The Beliefs Associated With Energy Healing

By Christine Taylor

Maintaining a healthy mind, body and spirit can often be challenging. While this is the case, there are practices which can assist when it comes to ongoing energy healing and overall well being. In some cases, Reiki can provide immediate relief. Whereas, in others ongoing massage and energy work such as Rolfing has been known to help individuals.

In most cases, this type of work is based on a practitioner, whether licensed or otherwise whom has the ability to channel energy. Often known as "chi, " the energy is transferred through a number of methods. These methods include, hands-off, hands-on and distance. While many of these techniques have become popular over the years, the effects of many still remain skeptical when it comes to the fields of medicine and science.

Often considered Spiritual in nature, the practices are not associated with faith healing. While this is the case, those obtaining these healing methods need to have a strong belief in the process. Otherwise, those paying what is often a high price for these services will most likely leave disappointed.

Therapeutic touch or massage, Reiki, Qigong, Distance, Contact, Spiritual and Biofield are just a few areas when it comes to the methods used in this aspect. While not as well known, sound and color forms are new to the arts though often presented at psychic and healing fairs around the world. Events of this nature can often provide a great introduction to these and other methods for those interested in obtaining more information.

While considered a Spiritual form, the methods are not associated with any organized religion. As such, most are labeled as non-denominational when it comes to associated beliefs. In fact, a number of organized religions view the methods as being outside the concept of God. For, unlike faith which often requires the laying on of hands by a priest or other religious figure, most practitioners do not have to be associated with any religious belief.

While this is the case, some require more training than others. For example, Reiki requires practitioners to go through multi-levels of training. Whereas, those providing massage must go through massage school and obtain licensing in most areas of the world, including all states in the United States. Whereas, other forms which require no such training are often considered the most skeptical when it comes to these methods and techniques.

The most skeptical of these is often the distance method. For, it can often be difficult to understand how someone whether across the world, across town or across the world can provide energy which can travel to another human being. At the same time, there have been scientific studies which have proved that some distance forms have been beneficial.

Whether one believes in distance or other forms, there has been proof that energy work and healing have had positive effects on body, mind and spirit. At the same time, as with faith healing, only those whom have seen results first hand can attest to these positive aspects. As a result, unless someone has visited a healer in this area, it can be impossible to either accept or reject the art as a viable form.
